| Influx of Pain |
11-07-08 |
|
Oh how we love this woman, not just because these photos make her look like she's turned on by that huge shiner. But because she's not a blonde - no offense to blonds - well, ok, yea we meant offense. We love her because this photo alone is what motivated us to go back to posting all the awesome Wii related injuries we've received over the last few years. Too bad we check our email like once every two years or we would have posted this earlier honey. Here is what she had to say about this "Remote to the face" injury...
These photos follow the after math of a night of Wii Tennis, some drunk a-hole swung back, into my face. When it initially happened, I just felt this influx of pain to my face, I wasn't even sure what had just transpired, because we had had the Wii for 3 months and no accidents or injuries had occurred.
I ran to the bathroom where my eye proceeded to gush blood for about 5 - 10 minutes, it was totally sexy.
So here are some silly and stupid photos of me and my black eye. Coincidentally I was between jobs at the time, and going on tons of job interviews, and yes, I had to explain my eye to a lot of people. :) because even some interviewers wouldn't ask, and I would just have to be like "Look, I know you are staring at my ridiculous shiner, however there is a plausible explanation, no, my boyfriend doesn't hit me, no I was not in any sort of car accident, and no, I did not 'walk into a door'..... Do you know what a Wii is?"
Rock on baby, we love the attitude. You can swing by later and we can take some more recent photos for our private collection.

| Denmark Destruction |
03-30-07 |
|
The Danes are continuing the break stuff as is the rest of the world. Today it's their own fingers being damaged. That's right, the nation that reminds American white trash that Copenhagen is more than just a brand of smokeless tobacco, has sent us pictures of a broken lamp and finger.
"I've had my Wii for 3 weeks now. I've been playing just long enough to discover that you can do some cool moves in Wii sports, tennis. High underhand balls, smashes and screw-balls. I was practicing the screw-balls with great empathy and excitement. Suddenly I bang the Wiimote up in my ceiling lamp which is made of glass, and cut my index finger all the way to the bone.
God thanks my girfriend was home when it happened. She's a nurse and managed to stop the bleeding within 20-30 minutes and got my finger stitched back together with some medical staples/strips.
Right now the only regrets and frustrations is caused by the fact that I'll have to wait for my finger to get well enough to start playing again." -David from Denmark
Dave, that sounds dangerous, and I too am glad that your medically affiliated girlfriend was on hand.

| Wii Excitement Leads to Pain and Suffering |
02-17-07 |
|
This is an example of what over excitement can do to a person. You've got to keep it cool my gentle readers. Relaxed and calm or danger awaits...
"Well I was playing a rousing round of wii sports golf with my friend. I was at one of the par threes and managed to sink a hole in one. I was so excited
about this that i thrust fists into the air and even jumped without thinking about how the ceiling was only a few feet above my head. POW, I punched the ceiling hard. Hard enough to make one of my knuckles bleed quite a bit. -Alex"
I never knew until I started this log of wii related problems how low everyones ceilings must be. If this keeps up, I can imagine a world with high vaulted ceilings for everyone.

Girlfriends with black eyes. When I started this, they were just another oddity, but now I live and die for the hope of another picture like this one. Rama tells us how his special lady friend got the shiner.
"Last night I was playing Tennis on my Wii. My girlfriend was sat on the sofa behind me. I was really getting into the game, and I do play it hard! She tried to get off the sofa and do to the kitchen. I went to take a swing for a long forehand shot and I hear a massive BANG. The corner of the remote smacked her in the face, right next to her eye. When she stopped covering her face, I saw all the blood and had to rush her to the hospital."
At least she's still smiling. I'm assuming that a long talk mixed with ample amounts of pleading and begging preceded these pictures. Heaven only knows what Rama has promised in the way of atonement, but I salute his negotiation skills in getting us these pictures. I thank you sir.

| The Bogota Swing, All the Kids are Doing It |
02-13-07 |
|
More international goodness. This morning we're coming to you live from Bogota Colombia. This is even some relationship related damage. Can this get any better? I submit that it can not.
"Yesterday, I was at wii game's night along my cousins and my boyfiend. We decided to Play tennis (Wii Sports) I was playing doubles with my boyfriend against 2 cousins. Anyway, we were almost winning the game and we were all very concentrated when my boyfriend accidentaly hit me with his remonte in my elbow. I felt a shooting pain in my arm and had to throw myself to the couch before fainting. these pictures show what happened."
A good whack to the elbow and collapse on the couch, a sign of a well spent evening. That third picture looks like someone has decided to help by putting her in a head lock. I'm not 100% clear on how this helps, but maybe I'm missing something in the cultural translation.

| Brown University Students Act Out |
02-10-07 |
|
Jason here attends Clown University... correction, that's supposed to be Brown University. They were hanging out a bar and just look at what happened...
"So we just got a Wii at my house last weekend... I knew it would only be a short time before we'd have some stuff to submit! I go to Brown University, and there is a bar in the basement of one our dorms. My friends and I frequent the place on Thursday nights, and last night was no exception. Needless to say, our friend Sunil probably had a little too much to drink. It was his first experience with the Wii, and we played a few tennis matches. I had to move out of his way several times for fear that I was going to get clocked in the head. In his 3rd or 4th match, Sunil did a vicious backhand... right into a door frame! It may not be as badass as some of the pictures on your site, but youve gotta start somewhere, right? -Jason"
Oddly enough, I was slightly more interested in the sad shape of that guy's hand. Does it look outrageously chapped to anyone else? If he's coughing up $30k a year for Brown's tuition would think he could afford a can of hand cream. |

| Man Cuts Hand, Sticks to Just the Facts |

Tennis has been a popular one lately. Keith tells us his epic tale in an even and measured tone...
"This was the first day that I had the Wii. I was playing Wii Sports Tennis against my brother and he was winning. We had already played for a few hours and I was getting into the game. I swung my arm to hit the ball and ended up not just hitting the ball but also hitting a low part in the ceiling of my basement with my hand. I looked at my hand and it seemed fine so we finished the game but afterwards I saw that my hand was all y; so I washed it off and we played some more Wii." -Keith
There is something I like about the way Keith explains this to us. It's a bit like he's giving a police report. I realize that it's not exactly a story they're going to make a movie out of, but c'mon Keith, amp up the energy just a little bit.

| People Take Turns Breaking Stuff |
02-01-07 |
|
Sarah has a photo collage of problems her circle of friends caused with their Wii. I'll let her narrate them for you...
"All of these pictures are from the same party I was at over the weekend. All i had was my razr on me, so the pictures aren't too good quality. All of the pictures are a result of Wii Tennis. The bleeding thumb was from a serve that went wrong. My friend hit his hand off of the ceiling and drew blood. He went to the doctor a few days ago and found out that his finger was slightly fractured. The other picture is from a tennis shot that didnt quite make it. My other friend wasnt using the strap on the Wii-mote, and accidentally let go of it towards the wall. The basement of the house was just recently finished and painted. Good job Wii Sports for damaging even more stuff." -Sarah
All from the same party? How swank. I suppose this way everyone could draw lessons from the mistakes of others. You know, watch closely when person No. 1 makes a mistake, that way person No. 2 could know exactly how to make the same mistake a few minutes later.

| Kid Hit in the Face, Looks Angry About It |
01-29-07 |
|
Heh, this kid looks half pissed off about the whole situation. His father Eric tells us how it happened.
"My 7 yr old son had just accepted a challegene from his sister to play his new game he just got for his birthday, Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz. They settled to try the Hammer Throw mini game, he was confident he could outthrow his sister, so he started to spin and spin, then he fell down catching the leg of my computer desk with his forehead. After a lot of blood, a lot of screaming/crying and a trip to Urgent Care, he ended up having 4 stiches in his head. -eric"
I like that this boy's father gave the slash treatment to the screaming and crying word combination. That, if I remember correctly, is how you cry when you are young and in pain. You just open your mouth and sound comes out at a loud volume. There is no tearful whimpering that builds into a sob, there is just the burst from zero to screaming/crying in .5 seconds flat.
Since we have a somewhat younger member of society making the coordination error this time, we'll give him a pass and not unleash the hounds of sarcasm on his frail body of emotions this time. I also like the batman shirt.

| Spastic Action, Leads to Damaged Fingers |
01-28-07 |
|
International stuff is great. It's just so multi-cultural, so cosmopolitan, so... very much like the stuff we do here in the states. Akira explains...
"HI! my name is Akira and im from sweden sorry for my bad english. I was playing Raving Rabbits and in this mini game u were on a hand driven littel train thing and u moved the remotes up and down next to each other and a got caught with my finger on the edge on the Nunchuk Pad, and tore out a pice of skin. This is nott as bad as some outher stuff on the page but it stil fun = ) -Akira"
Still fun indeed Akira, nothing like a little bit of bloody fingers to brighten your day. Just remember, that the purpose of the mini-game is just to move your hands back and forth, not trying to start a fire by rubbing your knuckles together. |
