Sunday, Bloody Sunday. Yes indeed kids. I have no idea if it happened on Sunday, but it did happen in Ireland so I think I'm ok making the cliche U2 reference. Even if you disagree, I'm going to post this with or without you. Neil tells the story of his son bowling his way onto our site...
Over his head was a light fitting - this was like a period lamp with a smoked glass cover (like you'd see on old oil lamps) [the part you see in the photo is the inner part the outer part was the size of the large metal ring].
His follow through with his bowling was a bit too good because (you guessed it) his hand went straight up and smashed the glass.
It shattered into literally thousands of pieces cutting his hand, arm and covering us both.
We carefully left the room and went to wash off his cuts in the sink. He had 5 cuts. The index finger one is fairly deep and the top of his thumb had a piece of glass embedded into it which I had to pull out with a tweesers.
It would seem that our friends across the Atlantic are not immune to Wii shenanigans. This entire post has been a cultural learning experience. For instance, I was not aware that tweezers were like trucks and elevators in the King's English in that they have different words for them. Truck = Lorry, Elevator = Lift, and according to the Irishman who wrote this email Tweezers = Tweesers. For me, every single day is a magical learning experience.
